Fahamu maana ya tukio la  Altare kubaki tupu (misalaba, vitambaa na mapambo kuondolewa Altareni)

Tukio hili hufanyika mara tu baada ya adhimisho la Misa ya Karamu ya Bwana siku ya Alhamisi Kuu. Mara baada ya Misa hii Altare huvuliwa- misalaba, vitambaa na mapambo yote huondolewa altareni na hivyo Altare hubaki wazi kabisa.

Kwa nini Altare hubaki tupu au wazi? Altare humwakilisha Kristo, hivyo kitendo cha Altare kuvuliwa vitambaa na mapambo mengine (yaani Altare kubaki tupu) hutukumbusha tukio la Yesu kuvuliwa nguzo zake na kubaki mtupu baada ya kukamatwa: “Ndipo askari wa liwali wakamchukua Yesu ndani ya Praitorio, wakamkusanyikia kikosi kizima.
